Robert J. Koltai
Founder, Managing Member & Portfolio Manager, Hain Capital Group
Mr. Koltai is responsible for overall portfolio management for Hain Capital Group . Mr. Koltai created Hain Capital Group in 2002 to exploit opportunities in the distressed marketplace. Mr. Koltai was previously a Senior Vice President at Oppenheimer & Company in the distressed trading group where he sourced and traded more than $2 billion in trade claims. He has served as a portfolio manager for a trade claims product managed by Hain Capital on behalf of Highbridge and Fortress and has managed a business unit of Greystone.
Mr. Koltai has contributed to scholarly articles relating to bankruptcy claims trading and has lectured at Columbia Business School and various event-driven conferences on distressed investing. Mr. Koltai received his BA in History from the University of California, Berkeley, and JD from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. Mr. Koltai serves on the board and is the past President of Hand in Hand, a northern New Jersey-based food bank. He also founded The Passaic/Clifton Cheder (a K-8th grade school).
